EDL Resort To Hurling Severed Pig Heads
Saturday 4 May: Several hundred English Defence League (EDL) protestors marched through Moortown in Leeds, to oppose the site of an abandoned pub being turned into an Islamic community centre. During several clashes two severed pigs heads were thrown at police officers. Four people were arrested.

Neonicotinoid Pesticides Banned
Monday 29 April: Today the European Union banned Neonicotinoid pesticides, which are blamed for the death of bees worldwide. The UK government opposed the ban because chemical company tests said there was no conclusive proof.
On Friday 26 April several hundred protestors gathered outside parliament in a Save The Bees demonstration.

Slow and Steady Erosion of the NHS
In February 2010 hundreds of people marched on the Whittington Hospital in Archway, North London, against the planned closure of the Accident and Emergency department. MP Jeremy Corbyn warned of further cuts and complete hospital closures. Now, three years later the Whittington faces further cuts to its services. Simply documenting this first protest back then exposes the slow and steady erosion of the NHS.

Government Gives Fracking Green Light

Today saw the government give the green light to Fracking in the UK following last year’s two earth tremors in Lancashire that were blamed on the initial gas extraction tests. The film Gasland documented how drinking water was contaminated and various damaging health effects, including cancer, were emerging across the US due to Fracking.
During protests in December a Fracking rig was raised outside parliament and chief Fracking advocator, Lord Browne, got an early morning wake up call.

2006 Drax Climate Camp

August 2006 saw the first Climate Camp set up. It targeted the Drax coal-fired power station at Selby in Yorkshire, to highlight the energy industry’s dependency on fossil fuel to create electricity. Two rushes are now on the Reportdigital.co.uk online library.

Gaza and Zionist Protestors Clash
Thursday 15 November 2012: Clashes broke out between pro-Palestinian protestors, Zionist protestors and police outside the Israeli embassy in London. Anger erupted as the bombing of Gaza continued, leaving 18 people dead and hundreds injured.
