CHASIV YAR, UKRAINE – OCTOBER 7, 2024: Photographer Maciek Musialek and I, along with our fixer Bodgan, joined lone volunteer Eugene from the aid group Proliska on his regular perilous journey from Constyantynivka, cross-country into the besieged town of Chasiv Yar.
Russian forces have occupied the east side of the town of Chasiv Yar and intense fighting ensues with Ukrainian defence forces every day, where 460 residents continue to remain.
Former Chasiv Yar resident himself, Eugene is the only person who can get in and out of the town. On every trip he runs the deadly gauntlet of Russian mortars, shells and FPV drones.
