LONDON, ENGLAND – AUGUST 17: Police officers detain at least four people after protestors breached a Section 14 Public Order notice on a designated protest area outside the Britannia Hotel where asylum seekers are being temporarily housed on August 17, 2025 in London, United Kingdom. Demonstrators are again gathering outside the Britannia Hotel in Canary Wharf following what police have described as, “a complex set of events” that took place on August 13, in which a man reportedly entered a private residence after being followed by a group of men, but no charges were brought. Following that incident, a 22-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of common assault against a security guard at the Britannia Hotel, which is being used to house asylum-seekers. The hotel has been a recent focal point of tensions over the government’s policies on illegal migration, as anti-migrant groups have rallied outside migrant accommodation.
