Chaotic Scenes as Tommy Robinson Enters Old Bailey

Chaotic scenes outside the Old Bailey as far right commentator and former English Defence League (EDL) Tommy Robinson, real name Stephen Yaxley Lennon, enters court to face a retrial on contempt of court charges.

Robinson was jailed for 13 months in May, for live streaming from a Leeds child grooming case that had strict reporting restrictions. A high court appeal in August saw him released and face retrial.

SOUNDBITE: Tommy Robinson. “You run stories about political prisoners in Myanmar, in other countries, you have your own political prisoner here, but rather than support me what you do as the media is you all rally against me and say that I deserve to be in prison. Everything I said outside Leeds crown court was factual and already in the public domain.”

SOUNDBITE: BBC Reporter. “I have to ask you again Mr. Robinosn what are you expecting today?”

SOUNDBITE: Tommy Robinsnon. “I’m expecting the full weight of the establishment against me, which is what I’ve had for ten years.”
