MYKOLAIV, UKRAINE – JULY 31: Two schools, a sports centre, a hotel and residential buildings lie in ruins following the heaviest shelling the city has faced since the start of the war, with more than 50 explosions reported between 1am and 5am on July 31, 2022 in Mykolaiv, Ukraine.

Hotel co-owner Dmitriy explains one person was in the hotel working when two Russian S-300 missiles struck the building and they escaped without injury. He added that life is more important than possessions and the hotel will be rebuilt when they have won the war.

During the shelling Oleksiy Vadatursky, 74, and his wife Raisa were killed in a missile strike on their home. Vadatursky owned Nibulon, a grain export company and was one Ukraine’s richest men..
