Sunday 8 September saw the start of the protests against the biennial DSEi London weapons convention. The first day saw several hundred protestors block several entrances to the Excel Convention Centre in East London, to disrupt the delivery of equipment for the arms fair. Since 25 July the West Sussex village of Balcombe has become the frontline in the campaign against Hydralic Fracturing, or Fracking, the highly controversial gas and oil extraction process.

During the recent weeks of unrest in Turkey, the Gazi district of Istanbul saw scenes of particularly violent street battles, as police used maximum force to quell any anti-government mobilisations.
The unrest in Turkey has so far left four people dead and more than 5000 injured. It was also reported six police officers committed suicide. The government assured the public these deaths were not related to the nationwide protests.
